The neighbors yard.

Every day, I’d walk past this neighbors house. Well intentioned in consideration for the lack of water in our community, the sign that pushed into the hardpan ground read “Drought Tolerant Garden”.

Tolerant but not thriving.

From the dry crusted ground pushed only the bravest of plants in the garden of great neglect. No water, no shade, no mulch, no cover. No guilds or dirt friends. Each plant holding the forte of their own barren parcel of yard. Isolation nation and the phones held no dial tone for the mycelium to connect.
