Warrior

Circa 2012

I’ve been rocking this cruiser for the past couple months – I like to call it the company car. It was put together from spare parts found in the loft of the barn. I saw them there, my first week of work. Tom and I were storing some remay that had been left out in the rain for several months. Tucking it away with the other farm ‘treasures’ including shade cloth, broken stakes, rusted fencing, and the like.

Like with like.

Tom was the one who saw the sum of the parts and put the pieces together. I had told him about my beautiful Kona getting stolen just weeks before my departure west. Lucky for me Tom talks Peewee Herman. He’s a Rebel Yellow. He cruises a yellow Trek, a beat up mountain bike with newer shocks. Biking or not, he wears tattered black biking gloves with frayed fingers.

I’ve figured cruising the warrior saves me about 10 minutes on a round trip to work and back verses walking. On average I make 2 round trips a day. That’s 20 min a day, 140min a week, 560min a month. And it’s good to save up. Don’t you know? Time is money.
