Thanks for visiting my portfolio! I’m sharing some projects I’ve worked on during recent years on the Central Coast of California and in the Midwest. Sacramento pictures are on the way. On view here are projects that I’ve designed for a wide variety of clients each with their own unique interests and garden goals.
For those who don’t know me, my name is Jade and I’ve been mulch loving, food farming and youth educating since 2009. I have experience in a wide variety of farming styles and have worked on farms of all shapes and sizes. I hail from the Midwest and first learned the art of mulching the planet at an urban farm in Madison, Wisconsin. I’ve worked in urban and rural farms using a variety of methods each alike to a degree but called many names such as organic, biodynamic, small plot intensive, agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, edible landscaping and the list goes on. I currently prescribe to the methods of Permaculture, which is in simplest terms a big happy mix of the previously mentioned methods.
What’s the big idea? For me it’s all about growing things you can eat, and craft with, in ways that work with the rhythms of natures to steward the land and soil while creating systems that grow abundant and healthy plants. Easy peasy right? Work with me and you’ll see it truly can be.
While I had heard about Permaculture early in my agriculture career, it wasn’t until 2018 that I began to grok the wisdom behind Permaculture Principles and the power of it’s practice. Since then, Permaculture has been my farming method of preference. This simply means I use the 12 Permaculture Design Principles to help guide decisions for building long lasting farm and garden solutions.
